Pima Cotton

For practical purposes, Pima, Sea Island and Egyptian cotton all refer to the same cotton plant: Gossypium Barbadense. This is a more desirable cotton for its “longer staples” which allow it to be weaved into finer, stronger threads. Pima cotton is grown primarily in Peru, the southwestern U.S and Australia. It is considered to be one of the superior blends of cotton and is extremely durable and absorbent. The name Pima was applied in honor of the Pima Indians who helped raise the cotton on USDA experimental farms in Arizona in the early 1900s.
